NTUC’s latest youth club, nEbO, will be organising a beach carnival titled nEbO Beach Carnival on November 25 at the idyllic sandy beachfront of Sentosa island. The carnival is aimed at promoting beach sports to all ages.
Spanning across 9000 square metres, the nEbO Beach Carnival is classified as one of the largest beach carnivals ever held in Singapore. Above all, the carnival is the first in Singapore to feature four different sporting events such as Beach Soccer, Beach Volleyball, Beach Touch and Floorball 3-on-3, accompanied by live performances by some of Singapore’s local bands such as The Great Spy Experiment, Ivy’s Vendetta, Flybar and The Sexies.
The carnival will have around 120 teams taking part in the various sporting events. For those who have the confidence, outgoing personality and a perfect frame, nEbO invites them to take part in the nEbO Beach Hunks and Babes competition which will be held inconjuction with the nEbO Beach Carnival.
“NTUC Club takes pride in promoting a healthy work-life balance amongst our union members and the public. The nEbO Beach Carnival is part of our ongoing programme to create a fun and healthy experience for all,” said Mr Chng Hee Kok, NTUC Club’s Chief Executive Officer.
Youths between the age of 12 – 21 who sign up as nEbO members during the nEbO beach carnival will receive nEbO premiums as welcome gift while existing members are entitled to a goodie bag (while stocks last). Existing nEbO members who participate in any of the four competitions and emerge as one of the top four will receive twice the monetary prize reward.
Other than sports, nEbO has been actively involved in a few community projects such as the ‘Facial Massage Service for Senior Adults’ where 20 students from ITE College East provided complimentary facial and shoulder massages to 40 seniors from NTUC ElderCare.
The next community project will be held on 21 November 2007. nEbO, together with Cathay Cineplexes, will play host to 110 senior citizens who will have the opportunity to watch the movie 881 followed by lunch and entertainment by The Red Band, artistes from NTUC Club’s latest clubhouse, Scarlet City.
nEbO will also play a role in a separate community project run by nEbO’s strategic partner, Escape Theme Park. A total of 219 students and teachers from Northlight School will venture to Escape Theme Park on 19 November 2007 for an interactive learning trail. nEbO believes that it is important to engage youths in meaningful activities that can be both fun and educational.

nEbO shapes youth landscape in Singapore
Launched on 070707, nEbO aims to be the choice membership club for youths 12 to 21 years old in Singapore. An initiative by NTUC Club, nEbO was set up to engage the youths to help develop and realise their potentials in their areas of interests in entertainment, sports, arts and culture, entrepreneurship, etc.
nEbO is a club for the young, by the young. A network of the respective communities led by alpha youths are formed to nurture and groom talents. Under the guidance of the community heads, members will get the chance to carry out their dream projects such as setting up a business or organising a marathon with infrastructural support from NTUC Club.
nEbO’s raison d’etre is not just to provide fun but also to cultivate social values. nEbOians are not self-indulgent individuals but civic-minded ones who care about the world they live in. Under the nEbO Cares programme, members regularly give back to the society by extending a helping hand to the less fortunate. nEbOians also care about the environment by supporting the green movement and spreading the go-green message.
Created also to be the ultimate lifestyle club for the young, the nEbO membership also comes with exclusive benefits and privileges. These include discounts for movie tickets, admission to Wild Wild Wet and Escape Theme Park, dollar-for-dollar top-up at Zone X gaming arcades and exclusive rates at Costa Sands Resorts among others.
