1 For sixty years, SCRABBLE® has been challenging generations of word lovers and game fans alike as they rack their brains to outdo the word-power of their opponents. The game of wits and words that counts many of the world’s leading A-list celebrities among its biggest fans will enjoy centre stage attraction this year as celebrations honouring its 60th anniversary across the world begin.
2 Through these six decades, SCRABBLE has gone from strength to strength and despite the many different incarnations of the game, from the first SCRABBLE to The Simpsons and 29 different languages in between, very little has changed in the game play. It has truly stood the test of time; it is still the same 15 x 15 square board and the 7-tile rack.
3 This year, Downtown East is setting the record for the Singapore Book of Records for creating the Largest SCRABBLE Board played in a Competition – measuring 28 feet 11 inches by 28 feet 11 inches.
4 This record is being set by Downtown East in conjunction with SCRABBLE’s 60th Anniversary. Being a pro-family organization, Downtown East has partnered SCRABBLE for this event to promote family fun that is educational.
