Arsenal Community Clinic by My Volunteer Kaki for youths supported by the NTUC-U Care Fund

Singapore, 23 July 2025 - NTUC Club’s My Volunteer Kaki (MVK) organised an Arsenal Community Clinic conducted by official Arsenal F.C. coaches for youths from beneficiaries supported by the NTUC-U Care Fund. The event took place on Thursday, July 24, from 5.00pm to 6.30pm at the Rainforest Sports Hub.

In collaboration with the Football Association of Singapore, the initiative brought together youths aged 11 to 18 for the opportunity to experience training with professional coaches from one of the world’s most renowned football clubs, fostering self-confidence and motivation through sport.

The exclusive closed-door event, which benefited 24 youths from beneficiaries supported by the NTUC-U Care Fund, is part of NTUC Club and MVK’s ongoing Do-Good initiatives, and reflects one of its core missions – to create opportunities for youths and children from lower-income families to grow, connect, and be empowered through community-driven efforts. The NTUC-U Care Fund scheme was established in 2009 to consolidate the Labour Movement’s fundraising efforts to better the welfare of low-income union members and their families. The event is part of the NTUC Care (Empowering Dreams) programme, which seeks to enable aspirations and level the playing field for children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Building Confidence and Character Through Sport

The 90-minute session followed the ‘Strong Young Gunner’ model used at the Arsenal Youth Academy, aimed at shaping young players into well-rounded leaders as well as inspire a lifelong passion for the sport. The distinguished model centres around four core development areas: Effective Team Player, Efficient Mover, Lifelong Learner, and Champion Mentality. Participants took part in a 60-minute football action carousel, rotating through various tactics, and applied the skills learnt in 30 minutes of conditioned games.

Gigi Low, Director of Engagement & Alliance at NTUC Club, said: “NTUC Club is dedicated to empowering all workers and their families through affordable play, by creating meaningful opportunities for both the less privileged as well as those who wish to give back to the community. Through this special partnership between NTUC Club’s community ‘My Volunteer Kaki’ and the Football Association of Singapore, we focus on providing an equal opportunity for our youths from families supported by the NTUC-U Care Fund, nurturing them by instilling values of teamwork, resilience, and lifelong learning – all within the spirit of fun and play. This initiative highlights our commitment to care and inclusion, fostering a more connected community as we work to deepen our social impact.”
